Remove any leaves that sit below the waterline, since submerged foliage breaks down and speeds up bacteria growth. Keep your bouquet in a cool spot out of direct sunlight, and away from heating vents, appliances, and bowls of ripening fruit, which release gases that cause flowers to fade faster. With this simple routine, most fresh-cut bouquets stay beautiful for five to seven days, and often longer.
